Since its birth in 2002, Mindano Kokusai Daigaku has been reaching milestones year after year. Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku has produced 863 passers of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), a worldwide examination in Nihongo. As of 2014, the College has already produced 260 passers in N5 (BASIC), 366 passers in N4 (BASIC), 204 passers in N3, 26 passers in N2(Pre-Advance level) and 7 passers in N1 (Advance level).

Over the years, MKD continuously supports International Study Tour Programs of the students. Five (5) of our BSIS students namely Francine Isabelle Aquino, Mestizza Novielle Realista, Joy Laquinario, Leah Angelie Tutor and Rovie Gen Cresencio participated in the Annual World Youth Meeting in Japan since 2010 up to 2014. Likewise, Jenesys Student Exchange program has been an international edge of exposure for MKDians. From 2009 to 2014, the college has sent 31 student participants in the Jenesys Student Exchange Program in Japan. For school year 2013-2014, the students who joined this program were Dylanica Perez, Joanne Gavan, Marianne Verdero and Rachel Lestojas.

MKD Nihongo teachers are also given opportunities for further study in Japan. Professors Michael Sabaldan and Shieba Magno were granted a 6–month Long-term training in Japan. Professor Gian Velasco, another Nihongo teacher, was also given a 2-month Short-term training in Kita, Urawa, Japan.

From 2010 to 2014, forty seven (47) MKD students became grantees of Japan Philippine Economic Partnership (JPEPA). The grantees employed as caregivers in Japan. In 2014, BSSS graduates Lynette C. Morales and Karla C. Elizalde passed the National Licensure Examination for Care Workers in Japan. Their license paved the way for their continued work in Japan.

MKD also encourages its students to experience studying in its partner universities and colleges in Japan. Miguel Leo Tapia, Josabel Bersabe, Lodih Maria Pable, Corvie Jan Villamor, Shikkainah Glow Menoza and Lizelle Manlod were granted scholarships for further studies at the Poole Gakuin University. In the year 2013-2014, Monbusho scholarships were also given to our students, Vivien Yares and Jeremiah Bacarro, for a one(1) year study in Japan. On the same year six (6) of our BSIS students namely Harlene Busia, Bidgette Mae Mabras, Louise Marie Pana, Corrien Nikki Paglinawan and Leonor Yap participated in the educational tour program at Kazanawa Seiryo University. Indeed, the institution is growing and continues to establish a strong and dynamic relationship with Japan. They were accompanied by Prof. Karina Cadiogan. In return, the MKD students, faculty and staff experience multicultural gains and international learning perspectives wider.

For more than a decade, the College has been consistent in bagging the top awards during the National Nihongo Speech Contest held in Manila with eleven (11) First Place and three (3) third place winners in the student, non-student and open-divisions. A special Jury award was received by our BSIS student, Miss Eyman Hashmin in 2011. In 2012, Dianne Dawn Fernandez was awarded as the 1st placer and Jan Corvie Villamor as the 2nd placer for the student division. Our very own Professor, Shieba Magno also received the 1st place and Outstanding Performance for the Non-student division. Corrien Nikki Paglinawan also leveled up to 2nd place from last year’s contest.

This 2015, MKD continuously carry the grand awards with our BSIS students, Daniel Ulanday proclaimed as the grand champion, Vivien Hazel Yares was rewarded as the 2nd place in the Open Division which had been previously bagged by Klondaleah Violango in 2013 competition. Professor Michael Sabaldan was awarded as the 2nd place for the Non-Student Division. MKD again reaped the 1st place and the most outstanding Performance Award by BSIS student Gia Paola Eser, the same with Miguel Francisco Manalac and Luigi Ma during last year’s competition.

Last September 2014, Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku ranked 6th place in the Red Cross Youth Inter-School Competition held at the University of the Immaculate Conception, Davao City. MKD also ranked as 2nd place in the Print Advertisement and 5th place in the Extemporaneous speaking in the “Marketing Wars” annual inter-school competition in Abreeza Mall, Davao City. In addition, the MKD Radio team won the best performance for the rendition of a Philippine pop music called “Chinito”.
